WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade items will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon or tool with the help of button, which will display an item's preview when it is upgraded if the player has sufficient materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even when they are part of another set of gear.

The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
