Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it comes in contact with carpets and the dual side brushes help pull out debris from corners.

The mopping performance, though still impressive, isn't as impressive. The mop's rotating mechanism spins fast and uses 2.2lbs to clean dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which is useful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The same front arms can be used to sweep larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and fallen books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mop and vacuums I've tried. It doesn't create the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It is easy to install, and it works well. However when you purchase this vacuum solely for mopping you must be aware of this.

The X1 Omni is notable for its massive dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two 4-liter water tanks. It also houses the 2.5-liter dustbin and an 2.5 milliliter dust bin.

The base also has a number of buttons to control the system. These let you manually start a cleaning job or recall the robot or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Hold down two buttons to switch off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are concerned about their children playing with the vacuum.

The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums, uses its camera to detect obstacles and furniture in its path. It will steer clear of them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

This can cause the X1 to become stuck when it gets caught in a blockage, such as a power cable draped over a rug. It will not work until you manually untangle it. While it was not common, it was a frustrating experience when it happened, especially since the X1 Omni doesn't come with an "stuck" status alert on its app.

Another issue that could be a problem is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two, which isn't a big deal aside from the fact that mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use, which can lead to mildew or mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed the sleek, modern base and mopping pad.
