Pokemon GO Upgrade Items and Components

An upgrade item is a unique item that makes certain Pokemon develop. The upgrade is obtained by spinning a PokeStop photo disc. It's often given as a prize in Pokemon GO events.

Most upgrade components can be replaced if they are slotted into an item, but doing so destroys the previous upgrade. The exceptions are glyphs (which can only be used in gathering tools) and enchantments, which are able to be removed and reinserted freely.

Glyphs

Glyphs are special characters that can be inserted into an OpenType font to add functional or decorative elements such as ligatures, ornaments, fractions, swashes registered trademark symbols, and ellipses. The Glyphs panel lets you look up and insert these unique characters as well as regular glyphs like em dashes, en dashes registered trademark symbols, as well as glyphs that don't appear in other fonts (such as dingbats).

Each Glyph gives a character a boost in primary stats. It also has up to four Secondary Stats that affect the glyph's radius on your Paragon Board. Glyphs can be upgraded by completing Nightmare Dungeons or completing Tree of Whisper quests. The more difficult the dungeon is, the greater the amount of Glyph experience that you will gain. Once a Glyph has reached level 15, it can be upgraded on the Glyph Upgrade Altar. Upgrades to a Glyph increases its radius on the Paragon Board by one node every 15 levels.

Once a Glyph has been leveled up to the desired level you can activate it by selecting it, then pressing the "enchant" button. The resulting Glyph will give its stated benefit, and boost all other nodes in its area on the Paragon Board. Glyphs should be put in areas that will benefit your build the most. This is why you should prioritise Magic Glyphs as soon as possible. The glyphs that are rare could offer double bonuses if certain conditions are satisfied which is why they're worth checking out for.

Click the cycle widget to change the view of the Glyphs Panel. Each of these views displays the Glyphs in a different font. You can narrow the list of glyphs further by choosing an option below "Entire Font": for example, punctuation displays only punctuation glyphs; Math symbols narrows the choice to mathematical symbols.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process by which you open a new account to give yourself more chances to play a character or weapon that you are interested in. It can help you level up faster or to obtain more loot, for example, the Best item upgrade weapon for your character. Upgrades are an excellent way to bring popular single-set items to the same level as their higher-tier set counterparts. For example, upgrading Guillaume's Face helm to Elite Spired Helm boosts the defense from 217 to 321 while also reducing the strength requirement and level requirement to a more attainable range.

It is important to keep in mind that not all items in the set can be upgraded. Some sets, like the FB Sorc Whistan's Shield, a spec's item or Naj's Puzzler staff are already Exceptional and Elite in their own right and don't require any upgrades.
